Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply when customers enquire about, book, or use any services provided by The Handy Handymen. By engaging our services, you agree to the conditions outlined below.

About

About The Handy Handymen

The Handy Handymen delivers handyman, repair, installation, maintenance, and improvement services within West Kent and the surrounding regions. These services are provided subject to the stipulations defined in these terms.

Enquiries

Enquiries and Bookings

Enquiries are not confirmed bookings until the specific work, date, and relevant details have been formally agreed upon. To ensure accurate service, customers are asked to provide detailed job requirements, including measurements, photographs where relevant, and specific access information.

Service

Additional Work and Scope

We strive to accommodate additional tasks requested during a scheduled visit if time permits. Please note that additional work may result in further labour and material charges beyond the initial agreement. We will always discuss these with you before proceeding.

Access

Access and Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the work area. To prevent delays or issues, please disclose any known hazards, hidden services, or access restrictions before work begins. Proper preparation helps us complete your project safely and efficiently.

Terms and Conditions for Payments & Cancellations

Labour Charges

Labour is charged according to the pricing agreed at the time of booking. Any additional time required to complete the work may be charged at the applicable labour rate. We also offer half-day and full-day bookings for larger projects.

Materials and Parts

Materials, parts, consumables and specialist items are charged separately unless specifically included in the agreed price. Where The Handy Handymen purchases materials on your behalf, reasonable handling or collection charges may apply. Deposits or advance payments may be required for materials, specially ordered items or larger jobs.

Parking and Additional Charges

Parking fees, congestion charges, tolls, or additional travel charges will be added to the invoice where applicable. Jobs located outside our normal service area may incur additional travel charges to cover time and vehicle costs.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

We request reasonable notice for all cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments where time has been reserved may result in a charge to cover lost time and costs already incurred.

Delays and Unforeseen Issues

Hidden defects, unsuitable surfaces, previous poor workmanship, inaccessible services, supply delays or other unforeseen conditions may affect the time or cost of the work. Any significant issue should be discussed with the customer before additional work proceeds where practical.

Electrical, Plumbing and Specialist Work

The Handy Handymen only undertakes work that falls within its competence and the scope of the service offered. Where specialist certification, statutory approval or another qualified trade is required, the customer may be advised to use an appropriately qualified specialist.

Customer-Supplied Materials

The Handy Handymen cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility or suitability of products supplied by the customer. Additional labour caused by incorrect, damaged or missing items may be chargeable.

Damage and Existing Conditions

Customers should identify existing damage where known. The Handy Handymen is not responsible for defects or damage caused by pre-existing conditions, hidden faults, unsuitable materials or structural issues outside the work being undertaken.

Completion and Inspection

Customers should inspect completed work where reasonably possible and raise any concerns promptly.

14. Payment

Payment is due in accordance with the agreed booking or invoice terms. Materials or larger bookings may require deposits or advance payment. Unless otherwise agreed, outstanding balances are due on completion of the work.

15. Photographs

Job photographs may be taken for record-keeping. Photographs may also be used publicly for website or marketing purposes where appropriate, and will not be used in a way that reveals sensitive personal information.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Subject to that, The Handy Handymen is not responsible for losses that are not a reasonably foreseeable result of a breach, or for losses caused by matters outside its reasonable control. The Handy Handymen maintains appropriate public liability insurance for the services provided.

Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects the customer’s statutory rights under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

These terms and conditions may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in our service or legal requirements. The latest version published on our website will apply to all bookings and enquiries made from the date of publication.
